Biotin is also known as Vitamin B7 or Vitamin H. This vitamin plays a crucial role in metabolism.
Function & Details
Biotin deficiency has a negative effect on the carbohydrates, protein and fat metabolism. This can lead to limited function of the biotin-dependent carboxylases. Symptoms may include skin disorders, depression, faintness, drowsiness, muscle pain, nausea, hair loss, lack of appetite as well as disorders of the heart function and anaemia. In addition, susceptibility to infection is also increased.
Biotin is important for healthy skin, hair and nails, as well as for the muscle cells and reproduction. The fat and carbohydrate metabolism functions are also dependent on biotin.
